Yap & Learn: Learning to Trust as a Traumatised Human
Have you ever told a stranger your entire life story within ten minutes of meeting them?
Or do you share absolutely nothing with anyone as in walls up, fine thanks, totally fine?
Or do you swing between both depending on the day and the vibe of the person? Because same.
There's a reason for all of it. And it has nothing to do with being too much, too closed off, or bad at relationships. Trauma and/or neurodivergence can teach us that trust is binary - all or nothing, zero to one hundred, completely open or completely shut down. Either someone gets everything or they get nothing, because the middle ground never felt safe enough to find.
This workshop is about finding the middle.
What we'll cover:
- Why trauma creates all or nothing trust patterns and why neurodivergence compounds this
- What oversharing actually is and why it happens
- The different levels of trust, what they are, what you share at each level, and which relationships belong where
- How trust is actually earned
- Trust across every type of relationship: family, partners, friends, colleagues, professionals, and online communities
- Why biology doesn't equal trust aka your mum might be a level four and that's okay
- A relationship map exercise to place the people in your life into their actual trust level and to see where the mismatches are
Content note:
We'll be talking about trust being broken and relationships that haven't been safe. There will be a gentle content note at the start. Take up space, step out if you need to, and know the chat is open throughout.
Do I need to have done other Yap & Learn sessions?
Nope - this one works completely on its own. If you've been through the workshops on boundaries, this is a beautiful companion. If you're brand new, welcome, grab a seat and bring your whole complicated relationship history.
Who is this for?
Anyone who has ever overshared and immediately wanted to disappear. Anyone who keeps people at arm's length and wonders why connection feels so hard. Anyone who has given full access to people who didn't deserve it and got burned. Anyone who identifies as neurodivergent and has always struggled to know how much to share with who. Anyone who just wants to understand their own patterns around trust a little better.
