Yap & Learn: Boundary Fuel
A drop-in capacity building workshop where I infodump one therapy skill, then we all yap about it.
Holding boundaries takes energy. Saying no takes energy. Dealing with the repercussions of people's salty energy when you maintain a boundary takes energy. Showing up for yourself and your community takes energy. And if nobody is ever filling your tank, you will hit empty and stay there. This workshop is about changing that.
Not self care as a bath bomb or a face mask or a treat you have to earn by being productive enough. Not the individualised, buy-something-to-fix-it version that puts all the responsibility on you while ignoring everything that's draining you in the first place.
What we'll cover:
- Why the wellness industry version of self care has failed most of us
- Self care as a political act
- The different types of self-care acts related back to your human rights and boundaries
- What running low on each type actually looks like in real life
- A personal fuel map worksheet to figure out where your tanks are empty, what actually fills them for YOU, and what one realistic thing you can do this week
What this workshop is NOT:
- A lecture on sleep hygiene
- A suggestion to drink more water
- A wellness routine you'll never stick to
- Anything that ignores the real structural barriers to self care like money, time, caring responsibilities, and living in a world that wasn't built for you
Do I need to have done the other sessions?
Nope - drop in fresh, this one stands completely alone. If you've done the other sessions in the series, even better. This is the one that makes everything else sustainable.
Who is this for?
Anyone running on empty. Anyone who knows they need to do more self care but has no idea what that actually looks like for their real life. Anyone who has been told to take a bath and felt patronised. Anyone who keeps caving on their boundaries because they're just too tired to hold them.
This workshop is trauma-informed, queer and neurodivergent affirming and free spots are reserved for trans and gender diverse people and First Nations folk.
How does it work?
— Live on Google Meet - cameras optional, chat encouraged
— 60 minutes: ~35 mins of content, ~10 mins of open yap at the start and end
— Recording sent to all ticket holders afterwards
— NDIS participants welcome and NDIS invoices sent through to yourself or plan managers
